Chilla or Cheela is a Indian savoury lentil pancake thats usually had for breakfast. It's packed with plant-based protein, and perfect on it's own or used as a high protein wrap.

Ingredients

1 cup moong dal (split moong lentils) or masoor dal (red lentils)

1 tsp Everiday Garlic Chili Oil

1 inch piece of ginger, peeled

1 tsp cumin seeds

1/4 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp salt or to taste

1/4 cup water ( or more to get a pancake batter like consistency)

1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped

Avocado oil, olive oil, or ghee for cooking

Instructions

Add the chili sauce, ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric, salt, and water. Blend till smooth. It should be the consistency of a pancake batter. Add more water if needed.

Mix in your chopped coriander once you are done blending.

Heat a non-stick pan well and add about 1 tsp of oil/ghee. Once hot, add about 1/4 cup of the batter and spread gently

Pour 1/2 tsp of oil/ghee over your chilla/cheela, cover the pan and allow to cook on a medium flame for about 1 minute. Flip the chilla and cook the other side.
